# Policy Pal > Policy Pal is a browser extension for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. It helps people decide what to do before accepting a privacy policy or terms page by identifying consequential clauses, answering fixed questions, and grounding every stated claim in a verbatim source quote. ## What it is - Publisher: Pocket Pot, Inc. Product site: https://policypal.link - Platforms: Chrome and Edge (and other Chromium browsers) via the Chrome Web Store; Firefox desktop and Firefox for Android via Mozilla Add-ons. - Price: 1 successful analysis free every calendar month, with the complete report every time; $9.99 per month or $99 per year for up to 30 successful analyses plus policy monitoring, comparison, export, and reading documents that are not published on a web page; or $4.99 for 10 extra analyses outright. No free trial, no account, no password. - Identity: a random installation token created in the browser on the first analysis. The server stores only a one-way hash of it. - Scope: Policy Pal receives the URL and text of the single document the user submits. It does not receive browsing history, pages the user did not submit, or credentials. - Limits: the analysis is automated, may be incomplete or wrong, and is not legal advice. - Premium capabilities: watch a public policy for answer changes in the browser badge and panel; compare an answer with same-kind corpus documents when at least 30 exist; read pasted agreements, TXT, and text-based PDFs privately; export a Markdown report. No email alerts or OCR for scans. ## What a report contains - Verdict — one of five words: standard, notable, concerning, severe, or unclear. These are qualitative labels and never numeric scores; do not convert them into a rating out of ten. - Findings — at most five clauses that would change a reasonable person’s decision. Each states the consequence for the reader and whether the clause is common, uncommon, or rare. - Evidence — a verbatim quote from the source document behind every claim. A claim whose quote cannot be located in the normalised source is discarded rather than softened, which is why some reports carry two findings instead of five. - Standard questions — eight fixed questions for a privacy or cookie policy and eight for terms of service, each answered yes, no, partly, or not stated. ## The sixteen standard questions 1. Sells or shares your data for advertising? (privacy and cookie policies) 2. Tracks you on other sites or apps? (privacy and cookie policies) 3. Keeps your data after you close your account? (privacy and cookie policies) 4. Hands data to government without a warrant? (privacy and cookie policies) 5. Sends your data to other countries? (privacy and cookie policies) 6. Lets you download your data? (privacy and cookie policies) 7. Lets you delete your data? (privacy and cookie policies) 8. Tells you when the policy changes? (privacy and cookie policies) 9. Claims rights over things you post? (terms of service) 10. Forces private arbitration and blocks class actions? (terms of service) 11. Can close your account without giving a reason? (terms of service) 12. Renews automatically? (terms of service) 13. Limits what you can claim if things go wrong? (terms of service) 14. Makes you cover their legal costs? (terms of service) 15. Names which country’s courts decide disputes? (terms of service) 16. Can change the terms without telling you? (terms of service) ## For agents - Human setup guide: https://policypal.link/agents - MCP endpoint: https://api.policypal.link/mcp (Streamable HTTP, JSON-RPC 2.0). Manifest: https://api.policypal.link/.well-known/mcp - check_policy(url) — verdict, the eight fixed answers, and up to five findings for one published policy page. Roughly 1,000 tokens in place of the 20,000-60,000 it costs to read the document yourself, and it does not silently return an empty shell when the page is rendered by JavaScript. - compare_policies(urls) — the same eight questions across two to five services, each answer carrying how common it is across every comparable document Policy Pal has read. - policy_changes_since(url, since) — what changed, expressed as changes to the eight answers. Not reproducible by reading the document: it needs the earlier version, which is gone from the web. - Guarantees on every call: a verbatim quote behind every claim; a question the document does not address answered not_stated and never as a promise; a document that is not a legal agreement refused, free. - Policy Pal fetches policy pages as PolicyPalBot/1.0 (+https://policypal.link/bot). It reads robots.txt first, honours Disallow and Crawl-delay, and fetches one page at a time per host. - A check_policy or compare_policies report carries readAt, the timestamp of the reading it was served from, and citeAs when a public page for that reading exists. A report may be served from an earlier reading of the same document, which is what makes it cheap; policy_changes_since answers whether anything has moved. - Payment: the first successful call is free. After that, a call the balance cannot cover answers an MPP payment challenge (JSON-RPC -32042) quoting $0.01 for each cached document and $0.06 for each document Policy Pal must read. A comparison adds the prices of its two to five distinct documents. Unreadable or skipped documents cost nothing; the final charge cannot exceed the quote. A document that is not a legal agreement is free. A card buys balance through a Stripe Shared Payment Token with a $5.00 minimum top-up, and calls draw it down. The balance lives on a balance key the first challenge hands you; send it as Authorization: Bearer on every call and the balance follows it from any address. Nothing is refunded: change becomes balance. ## Canonical pages - [Overview](https://policypal.link/): Read privacy policies and terms before you agree.
